I was not a fan.

I wasn't really a fan of the message, either. I didn't understand how Rebekah was so bad -- maybe she wasn't satisfied, submissive or spirit-filled, but he never said why he lumped Rebekah in with the others. For that matter, I never saw what his beef was against Hagar. It's not as though Hagar likely had much choice about being a host mother for Abram's oldest son. On the contrary, she showed a submissive spirit by obeying the angel and going back to live under the rule of Sarah (Genesis 16). And how, exactly, was Rebekah not 'satisfied' or 'submissive' by having twins? The sermon just didn't hang together for me. Now, if you wanted to point at Abram & Sarah's lack of faith, or Isaac & Rebekah's favoritism producing long-term trouble for God's people, fine -- but the guest pastor never made that connection.

I went away disappointed. Bring back our pastor, I say!
